Laugarbrekka

Laugarbrekka is located west of Hellnar and at the location you find a statue made in memory of Guðriður Dorbsanarsdóttir, that once upon a time was born at the location. Guðriður was the first European woman that gave birth to a child, her son Snorri, in North America in the beginning of the 11th century.

The statue is a copy of a statue that from the beginning was created by the artist Ásmundur Sveinsson.
